The day is coming... [personal]

Well as I sit here on my iMac for the last time as a single man. It's just all surreal... I mean I'm so excited that this day is finally here. We have been waiting for this day for more than a year now. But it's amazing one day you feel so alone in the world, and then you find someone unexpected, and feel so loved, you feel that all is right with the world because you found this person. Tomorrow will be a day of celebration. And amazingly the day before our wedding we have thanksgiving, and now we can give thanks for all we have. We're really so lucky. I know this is probably a short post, but I'm in the verge of tears with all this thoughts on my head from writing this "short" post. But they're happy tears :)

So have a happy Thanksgiving!!! :)

Mozilla's Thunderbird 3 email client gets a release candidate

by Jay Hathaway (RSS feed) Nov 26th 2009 at 8:00AM

Thunderbird 3
, the next version of Mozilla's email client, is almost ready for final release. Although it's almost a year behind schedule, the release candidate rolled out on Tuesday for all operating systems, and it delivers several significant new features, including tabs, better search, and Gmail-style archiving.

Thunderbird now plays nicely with Gmail all around, recognizing special Gmail folders that have traditionally been a bit of pain to set up in an email client. Setting up new accounts on Gmail and some other popular email services is also easier, thanks to some new account presets in Thunderbird. Even if you're not using Gmail, Thunderbird has borrowed the archive/all-mail sorting system from Google, so you can get email out of your inbox and find it later with search, without totally deleting it.

Since Thunderbird is a Mozilla product, plug-ins are another big selling point. Version 3 has a new add-on manager for themes and extensions. You can also now set up smart folders, for automated sorting of your messages. Thunderbird also integrates with Vista Search in Windows Vista and with Spotlight in OS X.

The final release of Thunderbird 3 should follow shortly after this release candidate. Going forward, Mozilla hopes to shorten Thunderbird's development cycle significantly, so maybe we won't see another year wait for the next major update.

Google Apps Connector for BlackBerry Enterprise Server now connects businesses of all sizes

(Cross posted from the Google Enterprise Blog)

When we launched the Google Apps Connector for BlackBerry® Enterprise Server in August, we focused on addressing the needs of companies operating their own BlackBerry Enterprise Servers, typically supporting a couple hundred BlackBerry smartphone users per server.

Of course, companies of all sizes are adopting Apps, and their needs for supporting BlackBerry smartphones are as diverse as their businesses. So today we're making it easier for companies large and small to manage their BlackBerry smartphones and save money.

With Google Apps Connector for BES version 1.5, large businesses can now support 500 BlackBerry devices per server, double the previous number. This lets them serve more users with fewer servers.

Small businesses get more flexibility too. The Apps Connector now supports BlackBerry Professional Software, which is designed for up to 30 BlackBerry smartphones. We've also made it possible for a single BlackBerry Enterprise Server to serve users in multiple Google Apps domains, enabling low cost hosting services to be offered by our hosting partners.

Stay tuned for more announcements from partners offering hosting services for Apps customers with BlackBerry smartphones. In the meantime, we're going to continue to make it easier for you to manage mobile devices of all types with Google Apps.

Samsung overtakes Vizio as top LCD seller

samsung

Samsung and Vizio have been playing a game of leapfrog the last couple of years. It seems every couple of financial quarters, the manufacturers switch between the number one and number two spots on the top LCD sellers chart. But as of right now, Samsung is king of the mountain again.

Vizio’s Q3 sales accounted for only 15.7% of the US’s total, while Samsung managed to move 16.8%. iSuppli credited Samsung’s LED backlighting push for the higher sales. LED backlight means thinner TVs. The rest of the manufacturers, LG, Toshiba, and Sony only managed a 8.1%, 7.8%, and 7.8% respective market share.

But here’s the thing, only LG saw its numbers actually increase from the second quarter of 2009. Everyone else, including the top dogs, watched less TVs ship out. Of course that shouldn’t be a problem for the fourth quarter of the year as people pick up TV sets as household holiday gifts.

La Galaxia Twittericua

twittericuasGalaxy1024

Creative Apple Art and Photography (20+ pics)

The Untimely Death of Granny Smith [Link]

How do you take something as simple as an apple and turn it into a work of art? Just ask these photographers and artists who've carved, photomanipulated or staged it so that an apple transforms into something special. With a healthy dose of creativity, these people remind us to see the beauty in the life's little pleasures. Because it's not what we see that makes something unique, it's how we see it.

What's Resident Evil's Albert Wesker doing in Capcom's Lost Planet 2? Preorder the game from GameStop to find out.

Dropping a fiver at your local GameStop location for Lost Planet 2 will score you a code granting you access to the skin of Resident Evil's superhuman Umbrella Corporation operative. Sure, you won't get Albert's superhuman strength, speed, and regeneration, but you will also unlock his revolver, which is just as handy to have around.
